Storelectric at Baker Hughes Annual Meeting 2025

Storelectric recently attended the 25th Baker Hughes Annual Meeting (AM25) in Florence. AM25 was one of the premier global gatherings of energy leaders, policymakers, and innovators. With this year’s theme, “Progress at Scale,” discussions centred on how the industry can achieve meaningful advancements in the energy transition.

Key Discussions: Hydrogen, Ammonia, and the Role of Natural Gas

AM25 provided insight into hydrogen’s evolving role in industry, particularly in hard-to-abate sectors. The event also highlighted the growing momentum behind ammonia as a fuel for maritime decarbonisation.

As regulatory frameworks tighten, ammonia is emerging as a viable solution to help decarbonise one of the world’s most challenging industries.

Natural gas also remained a key discussion point, with industry experts debating its long-term role in the energy transition. While renewable adoption continues to accelerate, natural gas is still seen as a necessary bridge fuel. This is impactful in regions where grid stability remains a challenge. Long duration energy storage is particularly important in these areas, allowing for renewable energy to reinforce the grid, rather than fossil fuels.

The Future of Carbon Markets

One of the most intriguing discussions at AM25 revolved around the financial viability of carbon credit futures. Major banks now backing lending against secured carbon credit buyers. As such, the carbon market is evolving into a more structured, investable asset class.

This shift could unlock billions in capital for large-scale decarbonisation projects, making it an essential tool for climate finance.

A Meeting Point for Innovation and Collaboration

The Baker Hughes Annual Meeting was more than just a conference, it offered a platform for technology, policy, and finance to converge and shape the future of energy. AM25 reinforced the need for collaboration across industries, governments, and financial institutions to drive real, scalable change.

Storelectric is grateful to Baker Hughes for organising such an impactful event. We look forward to applying these insights as we continue developing large-scale, long-duration energy storage solutions.
